The Basic Setup

This page aims to provide new members with an overview of the basic setup of their equipment. I know that when I first started fly fishing, I felt overwhelmed by all the different terms that were used. Why do I need tippet? How much do I need? What’s a 5X line? What on earth is a 5wt versus 4wt rod? The “Be A Fly Fisher” tab will cover all of these areas to de-mystify a lot of that for you.
