I joined the SFF in 1969 aged 13 . I remember Lindsay Haslem taught me fly casting and fly tying at his flat every Monday evening . After the club meetings, Maurie Wilson used to give me a lift to his home in Highett, and I would walk home from there – he had a Holden panel van converted into a camper. The meetings were held at the Cheltenham library I think. One meeting night, Maurie gave a talk about his time in Egypt doing archeology before the war . Lindsay Haslem had a little shop in Rowena parade Richmond , I would catch the train to Richmond . I bought my rods and gear from him , he made his own rods . Mike
